Rowing Club at NC State Membership Honor Code

The purpose of the Honor Code is to stress the mindset that Rowing Club at NC State is an organization that believes in “Team First, Self Second” in regard to member’s conduct. At all times members need to be mindful that they are representatives of not only the Rowing Club at NC State, but also NC State University. All of our actions will not only affect ourselves, but will also affect other members of the organization.

As a member of Rowing Club at NC State, and by signing this document, I agree to hold myself to the following standards:

• To not engage in irresponsible behavior, including but not limited to, the consumption of alcohol or illegal substances the night before a regatta. On Rowing Club at NC State trips, members shall not consume any alcohol or illegal substances per Club Sports regulations and rules.

• No intoxication at public or fund-raising events where we are representatives of Rowing Club at NC State in the community and to act in a socially responsible manner at all times that you are representing Rowing Club at NC State.

• No operation or utilization of Rowing Club equipment, NC State University vehicles, or private vehicles after the consumption of alcohol or other inhibiting substances for rowing related transportation. This applies to practices, regattas, and all other club functions.

• To take practice times seriously, and to attempt to make every practice or develop a routine practice schedule. If unable to attend, a concerted effort on your part to find a substitute for the boat must be made realizing that an inability to find a substitute will also mean that your entire boat will be forced to miss practice.

• Intentional or reckless conduct that results in damage including but not limited to tampering, defacing, theft, or unauthorized use of property of NC State University, Rowing Club at NC State, or of any other related person or entity is prohibited.

• To be accountable for actions which the team has determined to be detrimental to Rowing Club at NC State and to hold other members of the team accountable for their actions.

• To acknowledge financial obligations of being on the team as well as participating in regattas. Failure to do so will result in the inability to race and disciplinary measures as determined by the Board.

• To understand that if available and selected to race in a regatta you are obliged to pay any resulting fees. Post-registration withdrawal directly resulting from your change in availability may incur scratch fees which you will be responsible for paying in full unless otherwise determined by the Board.
